INSTALLATION TIPS FOR FLEXIBLE JAW COUPLING

2024-12-31 15:11

Flexible Jaw coupling is widely used, but many users only see its shape and do not know how to use it correctly. So, what problems should be paid attention to during the installation of Flexible Jaw coupling?

1. Before installing Flexible Jaw coupling, you should first check whether the two shafts of the prime mover and the working machine are concentric, whether there is packaging paper and bruises on the surfaces of the two shafts, whether there are debris in the inner holes of the two hubs of Flexible Jaw coupling, and whether there are bruises on the edges of the inner holes. If there are, the shafts and hubs should be cleaned and the bruises should be handled with a fine file. Then check whether the inner hole diameter and length of the two hubs are consistent with the diameter and shaft extension length of the prime mover and the working machine. Generally, when selecting Flexible Jaw coupling, it is better to make the length of the half coupling at the prime mover and the working machine end 10-30mm less than the shaft extension length.

2. In order to facilitate the installation of Flexible Jaw coupling, it is best to preheat the two hubs in a 120-150℃ insulation box or oil tank to expand the inner hole size, so that the Flexible Jaw coupling can be easily installed. After installation, ensure that the shaft head does not protrude from the end face of the hub, and it is better to be flush. Check the distance between the two hubs: measure the readings of 3-4 points along the two inner sides of the hub flange and take the average value, and the sum of the measured dimensions of the extended section and the two diaphragm groups. The error of the two is controlled within the range of 0-0.4mm.

3. Alignment: Use a dial indicator to detect the end face and outer circle runout of the two hub flanges of the Flexible Jaw coupling. When the outer circle of the flange is less than 250mm, the runout value should not be greater than 0.05mm; when the outer circle of the flange is greater than 250mm, the runout value should not be greater than 0.08.

4. Install the bolts: insert the bolts from the outside of the small hole of the flange, and then pass them out from the outside of the large hole of the other flange, put on the buffer sleeve, elastic washer, and screw on the nut, and tighten the nut with a wrench. If the installation is not suitable or it is removed and replaced, it will not damage the shaft and half coupling. After installation, it is better to rotate freely without any extra force.
