The Importance of Carburizing or Tempering Treatment for the Contact Surface of Drum Gear Coupling
2023-12-19 14:56Due to the long-term running-in use of the internal and external teeth of the drum gear coupling, the rotation speed is too high, which will cause the gear coupling itself to be heated and deformed. In this regard, designers specifically conducted some analysis experiments and concluded that controlling the heat treatment deformation of tooth profile has become particularly important. The surface of the drum gear coupling needs to be carburized or tempered. Due to different carburizing methods, the hardness of the tooth surface for crowned teeth coupling is also different. When analyzing the process of gear carburizing, nitriding, and ordinary carbonitriding, the carburizing deformation is large, and the change pattern is random and difficult to control. In addition, the tooth surface strength of the teeth-shaft coupling is greatly improved after carburizing, but the surface compressive stress becomes smaller, and shot peening treatment needs to be added for strengthening. This will increase the tooth surface stress of the rigid gear coupling, but often causes micro-cracks on the surface and reduces the precision of the tooth surface. The advantage of nitriding treatment is that the surface. The compressive stress is large, the wear resistance is good, and the deformation is small, but the carburizing layer is thin, the load-bearing capacity is low, and the brittle fatigue strength is not as high as carburizing; ordinary carbonitriding is prone to black tissue, resulting in material performance deterioration, and its use is limited sex.
After comparing various processes, a process based on high-temperature carburizing and direct quenching after medium-carbon nitriding was developed to heat treat the gear coupling, with good results.
